The history of the Estate
the Tucayne
Between Heritage and Innovation...

The history of Domaine de la Tucayne is first and foremost an adventure that dates back to the 12th century.

These are the Cistercian monks, builders of the Abbey of Grand Selve – medieval jewel of the South-West and

at the origin of the University of Toulouse, laid the first stones of this wine tradition.

In 1998, Jean-Claude Delpech, descendant of a line of nine generations of passionate winegrowers, made his dream come true:

Build your own cellar and bring the Tucayne estate to life

Having become an independent winemaker, he chose to devote himself fully to the Domaine, with a clear and environmentally friendly vision combining his passion with an environmentally friendly approach. Produce wines, without oenological cosmetics, authentically reflecting the richness of their terroirs.

Today the Saint-Sardos vineyard has been recognized by the National Institute of Origin and Quality as an AOP (protected designation of origin) since November 4, 2011, perpetuating know-how passed down from generation to generation. Jean-Claude Delpech, as the only independent winemaker of the appellation, continues to embody this heritage with pride and dedication.

La Tucayne, where each wine tells a story,

that of the terroir without artifice, with authenticity and

a sincerity that can be savored with each sip.

A team of enthusiasts!

For 15 years, Jean-Claude has worked hand in hand with Sébastien Almendros, a Franco-Swiss oenologist.

Together, they explore the full potential of the estate by offering a whole range of wines. Their passion gives birth to exceptional wines: the elegance of Sauvignon and Viognier for the whites, and the audacious alliance of Tannat and Syrah for the reds.

In 2021, a new page is being written with the arrival of David, Jean-Claude's son, who brings a breath of fresh air by launching, alongside Sébastien, a craft brewery, Escumosa - "la mousse" in Occitan. With an evocative slogan: “It’s going to foam!” - they enrich the estate's offering with local beers brewed with as much passion as the wines.
